Fender Bender

So, I was in a fender bender the other day. It was completely my fault, but a complete accident. I went to look in the back for some cds and my foot let off the break a tad bit and I hit the car in front of me at a whopping 2 mph. Now, most cars nowadays can take a bump at that neck breaking speed, however the person in front of me still felt it necessary to call the police. She didn't even want to move her car so, she held up all of military highways traffic. Which, irritated me. I went out to look at her car and mine, there was no damage relating to my love tap. I took some pictures just to make sure I didn't get potentially screwed, and then the police finally show up. They look at our cars, fill out paper work and says there won't be a summons since there was no damage done to her. I look at the report, it says zero damage.

Today, I get a call saying that she's filing a claim. Now, I start choking on my words in disbelief. I'm hoping that there is no damage to the car whatsoever. I'm just stumped as to why? This could've been handled in a way that there is no stress involved. No police, no insurance companies, no blocking traffic, and everyone just go about their day. I guess people have to make mountains out of molehills. Let's hope this doesn't blow out of proportion.

Reading.

I've been reading George R.R. Martins "Game of Thrones" and it has turned my interest in books back on. Lately I've been watching a lot of television series. Mainly the excellent Dramas and Action shows you'd find on a lot of cable and movie networks. I started to notice I was catching very small details about the show that, you could tell the producers were trying to cover something up without having to re-film. Haha. Sometimes I've even been able to point out some of the obvious plot lines that they try to make bigger than they should be. You eventually become underwhelmed at certain paths the shows go.

Since I started reading though, I've missed the intricate details the authors have to put in novels so we can understand everything that is going on. You can put a lot more on paper than you can on the screen sometimes. Particularly the interpersonal details of characters in novels are much more pronounced, which I love. It allows me to connect with the characters differently. I feel as if, when I'm reading a book, I can empathize with the characters rather than sympathize with them. I also enjoy how a book can grab a hold of you and you can read it for hours and hours at a time. It's awesome when you can share that with people you know. Especially on the same novel, you can see different stand points from people.

Remember kids, read, stay in school, and say yes to drugs.

No, seriously, don't do drugs.

A Fresh Start?

The past month has been a very interesting one. I feel I've learned a lot about myself and the people around me, hell even the world around me. I've become to appreciate things I didn't once before, simple things, things we don't really notice but we live with everyday. Like, the fresh morning air, the heat lightening over the bay, even that first stretch in the morning when you hit every spot just right. You know what else is nice? Night swimming.

I've noticed a change in myself recently that, I'm starting to like. I've become more self-confident in who I am as a person, I feel like I'm growing up, crossing over that new line in life. It's a really great feeling because, I'm no longer scared of it. I'm excited about it, it's the start of my adult life. This is where it begins, finding another Job to help support me and someone else, then eventually I'll live on my own with friends.

Listening to a full album lately has been quite difficult for me, I haven't had the attention span to do it. The past couple weeks however, I've been listening to a lot of Electronic music. You know what's a really good album? Four Tet - Rounds. I highly recommend it. For some reason certain electronic music has been filling that void that I've been feeling lately, it's what I've been searching for in my journey of music discovery. I think I'm going to expand on it and build a nice collection of albums. I hope every bit of it will be enjoyable.

A lot of big changes are happening, this time it's good. I wasted a lot of time the past few months thinking about a girl whom I thought, big things could happen. Now I know it probably never will, and I'm okay with that. She is a wonderful person but, I know her all too well. I would end up getting the shitty end of the stick eventually so, it's best to avoid that scenario all together. One thing I learned recently too is that, everyone has their stuff. Stuff no one knows about, stuff we hide in fear of criticism. We also have our own special way of acting, we all have our pros and cons, we're all just people trying to live their lives. So, why make it harder on anyone else when, you wouldn't wish that upon yourself?

To wrap this up, I found a quote online. When I read it, it felt like it was something I could live by. Here it is: "Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice." - William Shakespeare.

My Job Hunt

My job hunt, as many of my friends know, hasn't been too successful since I left Fresh Pride. It's becoming even more stressful now because of Mom leaving, I'll have to take over a share of the bills since her income is gone. I've wanted to help out for a long time but, there are plenty of jobs out there that only want specific requirements and you must have 1-2 plus years of experience. Then the other unfortunate thing is, since I've been unemployed for so long, I could be rusty, I could have a lack of motivation. But, I 'm not. I'm more than willing to work. But, employers don't know that. They just see how long it has been. I'm hoping I can find one soon, I really want to start working again, hell, I need to start working again.
